climber

I knew it was only a matter of time before he started climbing all over EVERYTHING - and frankly, I can't believe it took him so long. In the past two days he has fallen off the chair and done this:

Fallen off the step stool and bit his tongue, hopefully I'll get a picture later, it was a good one - he was bleeding everywhere and was freaking out because I was trying to look at it and get him cleaned up and he just wanted to play.

And I was trying to get the laundry done, next thing I know....he's found a new place to play!

Here are a few of our favorites!

Pics

So we set out for some family pic's - everything went GREAT (and can I add that the weather was BEAUTIFUL)! Thanks to our good friends who we tag-teamed with! Here's just a sample of our Handsome Man! The rest are to come..

a calling

After 5 months of "laying low" I've received a calling:

Ward Activities Committee Chair'woman'!

Wow! Nothing I ever expected, but I'm very excited as this is right down my alley - oh and by the way...the Christmas party hasn't even been thought about - I guess I'm getting broke-in quickly!

Jack-O-Lanterns

We've had these pumpkins we picked out weeks ago, it was finally time to carve! Laex played with his pumpkin forever - he kept putting his mouth on the edge, who knows - maybe raw pumpkin tastes good?! He loved taking the lid on and off and shoving it into the pumpkin making LeGrand or I retrieve it - what a kid!

And of course, we had to join the fun - LeGrand and his "Texas" pumpkin and me and my
thrown-together polka-dot "thing" (I wanted it to look cute during the day as well as at night:)

Chocolate

Doesn't Chocolate make everything better?

He was completely satisfied, not only did he get more chocolate cookie dough than ever, he was "in charge" of the spatula!

Great way to keep his mind of the pain of the teeth :)

I HATE Molars...

...or should I say, "Laexin HATES Molars". Poor kid has been fighting these dang things for almost two weeks, snotty nose, fever and whiny, whiny, whiny! There are at least three trying to cut (that's all I can feel as he won't let me stick my finger in there for too long :). He is so miserable, I thought the first teeth were bad - not in comparison. Hope they get here soon so he doesn't have to be in so much pain!

I have to say, through it all we have been pretty lucky as he is sleeping good - that always helps!

being a MOM

I was really inspired after lunch with a great friend last week. She is such an example of someone who lives life to the fullest and cherishes each day as a mother and wife.
I've consciously tried to learn to live in a way that I will never have anything to regret. But, I've especially worked on this since I became a Mom. I borrowed a quote from a friends blog that I believe sums it up:

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'til tomorrow
For babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep!"

I love a clean house, though I don't love the cleaning - but I've learned that life isn't always about that, and often there are more important things. If I have to choose between a day with my two boys, or cleaning the house - you can guarantee there isn't a question what I choose, the cleaning waits until a day I don't have other things planned.
I think life is too short to always be worried about all the things that need done and the house that can never be clean enough or the kids and husband who aren't perfect.

I hope as a mom I can instill great qualities in my kids but also teach them to love family time, and make memories with them that they will cherish. Memories are often made during those times we least expect them, so why not make those times happy ones :)

a working mom

Yep it's true.
Today I went to work.
Before I had Laex, I swore I would never want to be a working Mother because I would hate to put my child in day care.
Then I accomplished a fantastic goal and graduated college with a degree in a field that I just ooze over, I seriously love the broadcast field and I feel like it is part of me.
I've struggled as I know in the industry you have to either put both feet in and not look back, or risk ever being successful, and it isn't exactly something I can come to 25 years down the road and say, "I'm ready!".
PLUS, I would love some "me" time out of the home doing what I adore.
I've prayed that I would have the opportunity to continue accomplishing goals and get to use my talents.
Things have come along, but they were always too much for me - I don't want a full time job, and frankly we don't need the money so full time night producer at ABC wasn't something I chose.
Well, exactly a year ago I was the much loved (I see now) intern with Studio 5 on KSL. I had a blast, my experience was nothing but Fantastic - the people, the place, the opportunities - Everything, Perfect.
Recently I was contacted by Michelle Kettle, executive producer with Studio 5 who explained that she is way over her head and wanted to know if I would be interested in helping out. A day here and there (I pick my days), whenever she needs me - some months could be full, some not at all.
Of COURSE! - I was on board!! YaY!
Ultimately I'm doing Freelance work for them, which pretty much means I'm self employed and I hire out to them.
My first day was just as wonderful as I expected, time went by so fast and it was as though I had never left from my internship!
Best of all, it was LeGrand's day off - so I left Laex in the very trusting, loving, caring, fun hands of his Da da!
For now this is just what I need!

can you believe??

First of all, it's already OCTOBER and the weather has been PERFECT (85 degrees the last few days). I have been loving every minute - although I am NOT looking forward to the Winter that I'm afraid is going to hit HARD.
We've been getting ready for Halloween...

and I'm more excited than usual as I'm in EXTRA Halloween mood after spending the last week-and-a-half reading these:

I realize I'm probably the LAST person on EARTH to get on the VAMPIRE boat -but I've been completely distracted since I started Twilight - LeGrand's just glad I'm almost finished!

Oh...and Laex needed a turn - so here's a dose of him in all his glory!
