Flag Football

Laex is my little athlete!  He loves all sports and is currently playing flag football --they might as well give these boys pads and let them play tackle because that is what they pretty much do anyway :)

His last game he scored the first touchdown and played awesome defense pulling the flag nearly every time!

Hoopes Family Reunion

Labor day weekend brings our fun Hoopes Family Reunion.  This year it was at Aunt Toni & Uncle Joe's house in Fruita Colorado.  We broke up the trip to try and make the travel seem not so long :)  We left Thursday evening and stayed with our friends the Holleys in Lindon, UT.  Did a little shopping Friday then continued on to Fruita.  It was little Lytzi's first big trip and she, along with the other kids, were troopers!

We enjoyed three fun filled days at the reunion celebrating and 'Around the world' theme this year.  We started off with Italy & Pizza Friday evening. Saturday we celebrated France, & Mexico.  The kids (and big kids) had a blast on the blow up slip n slide.

(That would be my hubby on the Slip N Slide!)

Sunday we celebrated England & Australia. Our family was Australia, we didn't get any great pictures but we had shirts with this logo on them:

We did the dinner meal and served Aussie Burgers with the lot!  Sunday evening we had FHE, did our kids trade & raffle.

Monday we stopped by to say goodbye and headed on our way home!  We broke up the trip with a  visit at the Dillons in Riverton then made the rest of the trek home.  We were glad to see home after a long but fun weekend!

Helping with little sister!

Lytzi is lucky to get lots of loves (or mauling) and help from Laex & Loa!  I weened at 3 weeks, I'm just not a nurser.  She was my best eater out of all the kids but it just isn't my thing and even though I always feel guilty, I realize that I have to keep my sanity :)  So the kids love taking turns feeding & I love it too!

Caribou County Fair!

Somehow I missed Fair week...so I'm back tracking :)

The first week in August is always the very anticipated County Fair held right here in little 'ol Grace!  This year we weren't as involved because I had just had a baby, but we did manage to get out of the house and attend a few events!

We visited all of the Animals!

Laex got to ride in the Children's Parade!

We went to the Fair Parade!

We also ate too much greasy (but yummy) fair food including berries and cream, hand dipped corn dogs, cotton candy and more!

First Grade!

Laex started 1st Grade on August 21st.  He's a BIG 1st Grader and was so excited to be able to go to school all day & eat lunch at school!  Last year he went to Grace Elementary, this year we were asked to go to a smaller elementary in a tiny town (it's hard to believe it gets any smaller than Grace) just south of us as they were trying to even out numbers.  We found out that all of his little buddies were going and he was super excited so he's at Thatcher Elementary this year!  Thatcher Elementary school is an old (OLD) high school with only about 5 rooms and the Gym & Lunch Room are in the basement.

We went to the school the day before and took all of his supplies, saw his class room & met his teacher.  He was pumped to see the fun equipment on the playground, all of which is much older than me, I'm sure :)
(Laex & Mrs. Abrams)

He loves riding the school bus even though he is on for almost and hour both morning and evening, and because we only have 4 day school week that makes him catching the bus at 7:10am and home around 4:45pm --long days!

 (1st Grad Pose!)

(We made these for his teacher & bus driver)

After his first day of school he was so excited to tell me that they have animals on their playground, birds, snakes, bunnies etc. and that they can look at them but aren't allowed to bother them & best of all, he saw a bunny on his first day!

I asked him about his first school lunch and he told me he LOVED it.  I was a surprised when he told me he also got a snack and when I asked what the snack was he told me it was a Breakfast Corn dog (Sausage wrapped in Pancake) --I soon learned that they don't just get lunch at school, they get breakfast too.  He calls it 'snack' but one day they had french toast, one day they had waffles with blueberries, sometimes they get cold cereal etc.

I REALLY love the feel of the tiny school, its like a family -everyone is really friendly and knows you by name, you don't feel like a number.  In the beginning I was hesitant but I'm now so grateful he gets to go there and make such fun memories!
