Over 20 lb's and nearly 29 inches!

Thoes were the result of our 6 month check-up! My kid is HUGE! 80th percentile in weight and off the charts in height! Look-out NBA!

Here are a few things about Laexin's first 6 months that are just plain amazing!

*In 6 months of life he gained 13 lb's and 8 inches
*He did all of this on a simple diet consisting mainly of breastmilk and formula
*Slight complications at birth landed him a day in ICU and 3 days in the Special Care unit, he struggled with jaundice, an ear infection, and mastitis (yes, I said mastitis - no, not me, him).
*He is now perfectly happy and healthy!
*He's traveled over a thousand miles in his carseat and...he still loves it!
*He has already outgrown that carseat
*He has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks old (this makes me one happy mama!)
*He's stubborn
*He's social & loves people
*He gets bored easily
*He wears any thing from 9-18 month clothing and a size 2 baby shoe!
*He loves books and baths

Best of all, he's the joy of our lives, he has a smile and laugh that just make us melt! We love you buddy!

6 About ME!

I've been tagged. I love it! So I am supposed to write six things about myself then tag six other people, I'll let them know by leaving a message on their blogs.

Here we go.

1. I have a HUGE Love for Broadcast Journalism. I had the opportunity to anchor and report for the BYU Daily News and complete the most rewarding internship with KSL's Studio 5. Someday I hope to use this passion to make a difference in the world...even if it's a small one.

2. I LOVE to travel. Although I haven't had the chance to do much of this lately, I always look forward to the next adventure. I spent a year in New Jersey, I got to visit NYC, Boston, D.C., South Carolina and all the places inbetween. LeGrand and I have enjoyed trips to California (one of our favorites was to northern Cali.) Las Vegas, Colorado and a wonderful Cruise to the Western Caribbean visiting Jamaica (our FAVORITE), Grand Cayman and Costa Maya Mexico. I have dreams to visit Europe, Hawaii and Austrailia and take an African Safari.

3. I really enjoy cooking. I love to create an enjoyable meal for my family. I love being able to see it all come together and taste good. I often take recipes and make them my own. I find great satsfaction in a good meal.

4. I love a clean house. I don't always enjoy the cleaning part but the finished product brings me much fulfillment. I love the smell of a clean house. I love using a clean shower and sitting on a clean toilet :). I love the lines in the carpet after it has been vaccumed. I love the feeling I have knowing all of these things are done and I can just rest!

5. I could spend all day in the home decor isle. I love to decorate and dream of fun ways to create my space. I like to go out on a limb and do things that others might see as risky. Every room in my house is painted a different color.

6. I hope to adopt someday. I have always had a desire to give a child a life they may never dream of. I feel it I have the means to provide this it is my duty. I think there would be nothing greater than giving my children the chance to grow up with siblings of different nationalities, teaching them a love for all people.

Honorable Life

I just heard the news that our dear Prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley has passed on. My heart aches as if I've lost a member of my own family but what a great legacy he leaves behind. I can't help but imagine the wonderful reunion he will have with his amazing wife. He has lived such an extraordinary life and will be missed by all who knew him.

Week in review

As the week goes by it seems quite un-eventful. But as I pondered on what I've done this past week I quickly learned that it was actually full of all kinds of excitement!

Laexin experienced his first haircut - not that he had a lot to cut off but it was getting to fluffy for me so now he has a buzz!

I got about a fourth of the blocks made for a Christmas quilt I'm working on, I figure if I start this early then it will be done by next year :)

Laexin is almost a pro at "Patty-Cake" - at least I like to think he knows what he is doing!

I attended a great Stake Enrichment night on Financial Prepardness.

I took a trip with Mariah to IKEA where we spent over three hours finding Decor for her house.

I also did the regular...Laundry, Cleaning, Diapers, Feeding, Cooking, more Diapers and I worked out 5 times this week including a very intense Pump class which I'm still feeling the results of!

And LeGrand...well, he worked, went to school, did homework, attended to his Young Mens President duties, played some Basketball, took a test and ate a lot of ice cream!

On to the next week, excited to see what it brings!

My BEST Friend!

So...I've been tagged by Mariah and I'm totally excited to brag about the Love of my life!

HIS NAME? LeGrand James van Gass, named after the great Legrand Richards.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MARRIED? 5 years, 2 months and 9 days!
HOW LONG DID YOU DATE? From the day we met to the Wedding day... 3 months and 4 days! When you know it's right - why waste time!
HOW OLD IS HE? 27 for a couple more months!
WHO EATS MORE? Him, although we both really enjoy food!
WHO SAID "I LOVE YOU" FIRST? He did!
WHO IS TALLER? He's taller by about 4 inches, perfect for when I want to wear my tall shoes!
WHO SINGS BETTER? I'm not really sure on this one, LeGrand likes to keep it a secret that he was a member of choir in High School. If the truth be told -- he probably sings better.
WHO IS SMARTER? We each have our areas! But, I have to say, when he puts his mind to something and studies...he is always very successful.
WHOSE TEMPER IS WORSE? That ones easy - MINE! (I'm working on it). But...when we are driving...watch out...A side of LeGrand comes out that not many people have ever seen.
WHO DOES THE LAUNDRY? Mostly me, he chips in every once-in-a-while.
WHO DOES THE DISHES? We're pretty equal on this one.
WHO SLEEPS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BED? Hum...I sleep to the right of LeGrand!:)
WHO PAYS THE BILLS? We usually pay them together, but I write the checks.
WHO MOWS THE LAWN? -No lawn to mow...yet. When the day comes that we do have a lawn to mow I'm sure we'll share the task. I don't mind mowing every now and then, in fact, I kind of like it.
WHO COOKS DINNER? I cook! And I love it! I am trying to train LeGrand to like it to...he's the pro at Quesadilla's and grilled cheese.
WHO DRIVES WHEN YOU ARE TOGETHER? It's pretty equal.
WHO IS MORE STUBBORN? You would never know it but...LeGrand is the stubborn one and boy is he stubborn.
WHO IS THE FIRST TO ADMIT WHEN THEY ARE WRONG? Neither of us like to be wrong!
WHOSE PARENTS DO YOU SEE THE MOST? Mine
WHO PROPOSED? LeGrand! We already had the wedding planned. When the ring came, he made it official!
WHO HAS MORE FRIENDS? I think I do. We share a lot of the same friends.
WHO HAS MORE SIBLINGS? We have the same! Both of our families have two boys and two girls!
WHO WEARS THE PANTS IN THE FAMILY? I probably wear the pants most of the time but he's best at lightening the mood and keeping things exciting!

Accomplishment

As a stay-at-home Mom it is quite easy to wonder if I ever really get anything done! - There are many days that LeGrand goes to work and comes home after 8 hours to the same mess! It has been quite the adjustment for me, learning to deal with the fact that I just might not accomplish anything during the day. I'm proud to say this week I had at least one accomplishment...

Sitting, on his own!!!! It's like Christmas every time he hits a new "milestone" - I love it! I guess my time home is paying off after all!

Our Turn!

I've found that in life it is easy to look at others with their "lands and gold" and ponder on what I would do with a million dollars or when we're going to hit our "big break" well... it's our turn! LeGrand found out yesterday that he got a new JOB! - He took a risk and applied for a different Job in company (still with Rocky Mountain Power) - nothing to loose right! It just so happens that he got it! We are so excited to finally see our lives progressing. This isn't the direction either of us would have ever imagined, but this will bring many great opportunities and experiences - not to mention no more risk of being laid off and the cherry on top - a pay raise!

Needless to say - we had to celebrate! Last night we enjoyed all-you-can-eat CRAB at Maglebys - it couldn't have been a better meal as this is both of our Favorites! - Laexin enjoyed his binky and wondered what in the crap Mom and Dad were eating!

New Year, New Resolutions!

After spending New years eve partying with the Wickhams and New years day relaxing from all of the craziness of the holidays I'm excited to start 2008! 2008, WOW! I feel like it was just 1998!

Resolutions aren't anything if you don't write them down, right?! So here are a few of my new years goals, this way you bug me to keep them up!

MINE:

Battle of the Post-pregnancy Bulge (need I say more?)

Enjoy every minute with Laexin and LeGrand, live today - instead of, for tomorrow.

Strengthen mine and LeGrands relationship, date night at least once a month.

Grow spiritually by studying more.

Get up-to-date on photo albums and scrapbooks

Be the best Mom, Wife, Sister and Daughter possible by thinking of others before myself!

Cheers to the new year, more opportunities, endless experiences and a healthy happy family!
