Laexin takes a spill on the slip-n-slide

LeGrands parents invited us to the Soda Springs Hospital employee family fun night  - LeGrand was in St. George, it was the Thursday evening after school started and the kids were pumped to go get dinner, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, face paint and play on the big slip-n-slide.

We had only been there about 15 min. when Laexin was trying to go down the slip-n-slide on his feet and took a spill, I saw him hit his face but just figured he's had a fat lip or something - then he sat at the bottom of the slide and got a panicked look on his face saying his tooth was out, maybe two teeth - I walked up and took one look and knew it was bad.  I was holding a wet wipe I had used to wipe Linqs face and stuffed it in his mouth, grabbed LeGrands Dad who said he would walk him into the ER - then I lined out the kids with Oma and grabbed my purse and headed into the ER.

He had somehow managed to hit just his one crooked tooth that sticks out a little (LeGrand calls it his snaggle tooth) and ripped it straight out of his mouth ripping his gum clear up to where it connects with his lip and pulling that permanent tooth, root and all straight out.

The Nurse Practitioner in the ER luckily got a hold of a local dentist right away who told her to stick the tooth back in and he'd be in in about 15 min and take care of it.  - Laex never had any medicine and I about passed out watching the lady stuff his tooth back in--he was so tough.

The dentist came and we went from the ER to his office just down the road, an hour later he was all fixed up.  The dentist had to hold the tooth and do a root canal on it because the nerve was too damaged.  We also discovered that he had chipped off piece of his jaw bone that was lodged in his gum, after the dentist got the tooth all back in and stitched it up good he was confident the bone piece would live since it still had a good amount of blood flow in the gum and the tooth should re-set also. Since it was late, after hours - I filled in as the dental assistant, it was quite the experience, ha!
