I have the BEST hubby in the world! Last year he surprised me with THIS for my B-day and this year he sent me on a girls trip with MJ to LA! He NEVER dissappoints!
While I was away he was super Dad & took the kids to Vernal to visit Grammie & Papa! Thanks Babe, You're the BEST!
The trip was a BLAST!
The first night brought enough memories to last the whole trip...we stayed in a motel that felt like it was smack dab in the middle of Mexico, to refer to the pillow's as pancakes is a HUGE understatement and when we asked for more we were told "it wouldn't be possible" (WHAT??), then we were brought a furry 'body pillow' instead (EWWWW), the bed was like a rock, we were woke at least three times in the night allowing us about 4 hours of total sleep, the walls had paint splotches that looked much like they were trying to 'cover something up'.... BUT, we'll NEVER forget it and we got some seriously good laughs out of that place, LOVE the memories! --my Man who RARELY goes wrong slipped up on this one :)--
I also failed to mention that we had the BEST Street Tacos that night at a little joint where maybe one of the workers spoke English, between the two of us we navigated with our broken Spanish and really enjoyed our dinner!
I took it into my hands to find us a better place to stay the rest of the trip & it was MUCH better --we felt like we went from Mexico to Disneyland! Thank you DoubleTree!
We spent Friday, downtown LA at the fashion district and shopping the Citadel outlets and enjoyed ourselves some yummy Italian for dinner!
Saturday we were up and at it early as we had to fit in an 11 miler in prep for our upcoming 1/2 marathon! We found a sweet route from Griffith Park Observatory to the famed Hollywood sign and decided we would attempt it --it was supposed to be a 6.5 mile round trip but because we got off track and did some back tracking and took a few wrong turns we were already over 6 miles by the time we finally made it to the Hollywood sign & it was more like a hike/run as that 6 miles was primarily uphill! We were exhausted by the time we made it to the top! { We also weren't prepared with anything to hydrate us because we had figured we would be back to the car by this point (thank heavens some nice people to mercy and shared Gatorade & water with us) }The last 4.5 miles were mostly downhill, yay! We were so happy to see the car again!
We grabbed some fabulous fish taco's for lunch then hit up the Dwell on Design show where we gawked at all the sweet modern products and displays.
Then we spent the evening at Santa Monica Pier & devoured our yummy seafood dinner!
Sunday we took it easy, checked out of the motel & headed to the downtown farmers market & The Grove! We headed to the airport around 4, just as we checked in our car (our trusty Chevy HHR) and got on the shuttle bus to the airport we got a text saying our flight was 3.5 hours delayed - GREAT! We were disappointed we hadn't been notified just 15 min. earlier, dang!
Luckily though they redirected us so we flew to Oakland then to SLC. Mr. Steve Young and his whole family were on our flight!
Such a fun getaway!
