Hail & Hummingbirds & Martin Harris

The kids love any chance to play in the rain, well this day it was hailing pretty good and they begged to go out...they got all prepared with buckets on their heads!

We have two hummingbird feeders and a fun little flock of hummingbirds that frequent for every meal.  There are around 10 birds, we have loved watching them and listening to them through the open windows.  This particular day Laexin was returning the feeders to their hangers after we refilled the food and the birds just couldn't wait to their fill - he was so excited to have the birds landing all over him.

We had a fun time attending the Martin Harris pageant - it was a bit windy when we arrived and we were afraid a storm was coming, but luckily it blew over and we were able too enjoy the pageant -the kids really liked it.

Huckleberries!

After living here for how many years, we finally got someone to tell us where we could go huckleberry picking --for some reason it is quite the secret, everyone will tell you a general area but no one is willing to offer up their 'prized' picking spots.  When we got there we really couldn't figure out what the secret is all about because there were SO many huckleberries --and we were only in one small area.  I guess it's a 'locals' thing ;)

We had a fun time picking - surprisingly the kids lasted almost 2 hours, then we stopped for a pic-nic lunch and let them watch a movie in the car while LeGrand and I picked for another hour and a half. We got almost 2 gallons of huckleberries!  Not too shabby for our first time --they are like gold around here, people sell them for $80 a gallon or $20 a quart --it's crazy!  The kids are determined to pick some to sell next year :)

Linq was content as long as he had plenty of berries to eat!

we even discovered a patch of wild strawberries, they were super small but really sweet

We finished our day with yummy huckleberry shakes!

Caribou County Fair 2017

We LOVE Fair time!  We visited Monday morning to take our entries.

Then Wednesday the Kids were in the Kid Parade and we visited the animals. Then after dinner we went for dessert :)

Linq wasn't quite sure about the cotton candy at first, but it didn't take long for him to love it!

We were so excited to finally convince someone to visit us during Fair :)  The Belchers came Thursday night, so Friday we had fun checking everything out, going to a couple stage shows and eating fair food!

Friday night we got a babysitter for the kids and had a date night at the Rodeo!
It was a bit of a bummer weekend as LeGrand had hurt his back at work on Thursday and had a hard time getting around but he endured pretty well.

Saturday we got lots of candy at the parade!
