Aunt Kenz

Kenz went in for femer rotation surgery the week before Halloween.  At some point during the process they believe she had a minor heart attack.  She ended up in a coma for almost 10 days while they monitored her and tried to decide if she needed open heart surgery or how to proceed.  It was stressful and scary and everyday brought new challenges.  I'm grateful we were close to be a home base for Jed to come take showers and my parents to have a place to stay.  They were finally able to bring her out of the coma --it was a process that took a couple of days and took her another couple of days to be completely coherent.  We are so grateful for how things turned out, it definitely could have been worse results.  After a few months of doctors check ups and things they were able to determine that her heart was healing itself and her leg was healing very well.  She did lots of physical therapy and has worked hard to get her strength back.

It was such a happy day when she was able to get out of bed for the first time in 10 days!
